Jon Nottingham

Jon has over 25 years’ experience of isolator technology and low temperature chemical bio-decontamination design, manufacture and validation. He holds an MSc in Pharmaceutical Engineering from Manchester University UK, a BSc in Industrial Engineering from the University of Hertfordshire UK and is a Fellow of Manufacturing Management (MBA equivalent) from Cranfield University UK.

After working in the electrical and electronics industry at the beginning of his career, Jon’s career in Isolator and confinement systems started when he joined La Calhène France in 1999, now part of the Getinge group.

During 2000 – 2002, Jon co-authored the now well-known ASPEC guide “Isolateurs Qualification” – a French technical publication dedicated to the qualification of isolators for hospital and pharmaceutical applications.

Jon founded Cape Europe in 2005, which specialises in the design, manufacture and validation of VHP bio-decontamination systems and rapid transfer ports.

From 2000 to 2010, he was a member of the PDA working party on Biological Indicators for use with low temperature bio-decontamination (VHP) of separative enclosures. The working party’s findings were published as PDA Technical Report 51, now a major reference for VHP and isolator users.
